The bespoke design of the Brick Award 24 trophies reflects on the versatility of brick as a building material. The design was created to express Wienerberger’s values of versatility, sustainability and innovation.

Initial visits to five Wienerberger factories in Belgium and the Netherlands gave insights about the company’s manufacturing methods and products, which informed the design development.

The trophies were made out of uniform extruded sections, which were cut into cubes, rotated along multiple axes and assembled, demonstrating the diversity of applications and capability of brick to incorporate ventilation and shading.

The pieces can be read on multiple scales, both as an assembly of building modules and as full scale buildings.

The trophies were manufactured at Wienerberger factory in the Netherlands using custom-made extrusion die, while the glaze colours were specially developed to match the competition categories.
